Spam Filters
Learn more about spam filters - exactly what they are, how they work and how to set up one.
An email filter is a piece of software that’s installed on a POP3/IMAP server and monitors all inbound messages in order to prevent any unasked-for ones from reaching a particular inbox. Several examples of such email messages would be: offers for pills or money, fraudulent banking notices or attachments that contain malicious code sent with the idea to infect your personal computer. Spam filters usually check the content of an email message and when they detect given keywords or other dubious content, they either delete the email message or re-send it to the Junk/Spam folder instead of the Inbox folder. Some hosting providers mix their own filters with up-to-date databases from spam-detecting organizations, so as to ensure better security for their customers. Such databases contain patterns, mail server IP addresses and other information about spam emails recently uncovered by these organizations.

Spam Filters in Cloud Hosting
If you order a
cloud hosting plan from our company and if you take advantage of our email services, you’ll be able to set up spam filtering for any of the mailboxes that you set up from the Email Manager section of your Hepsia Control Panel. With no more than several clicks, you can choose between five different levels of security. If you start getting spam, you can start with the lowest level and then slowly raise the level until you stop getting spam. We use one of the best and most famous email filters available on the market called SpamAssassin. It checks the header and the body of each message that you get and calculates a spam score, based on which it either deletes a specific message or permits it to reach your mailbox. The Hepsia Control Panel will also permit you to configure custom spam filters and either delete undesirable messages or redirect them to a 3rd-party address such as spam@domain.com where you can check them once more later.

Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our
semi-dedicated server packages deliver first-rate spam protection guaranteed by the famous SpamAssassin filter, which classifies all inbound email messages on the basis of a spam score in accordance with parameters and patterns, such as the recurrence of particular keywords, the sender, the subject, and so on. When you enable the filter for any account through the Hepsia hosting Control Panel’s Email Manager section, you can pick between five separate safety levels – from very low to very high. If you keep receiving unsolicited bulk messages, you can increase the level, or if authentic emails are classified as spam, you can lower it. Enabling or disabling the anti-spam protection takes as little as two clicks and you can select if the filtered emails should be deleted instantaneously or if they should be forwarded to a designated email account where you can examine them at a later time, so as to ensure that important email messages will not disappear.
